SpinQ is pleased to share that Al-Farabi Kazakh National University (KazNU) has officially launched the “Quantum AI” laboratory at its Faculty of Information Technology, marking an important step forward for quantum and AI education in Kazakhstan.

According to local media coverage, the new laboratory is the first platform of its kind in Kazakhstan focused on the integration of quantum computing and artificial intelligence. The launch reflects growing interest in advanced computing education and research in Central Asia, while also expanding access to real quantum hardware for students and researchers in the region.
The laboratory was established with support from SpinQ and is equipped with seven SpinQ Gemini Mini Pro portable NMR quantum computers. According to the reports, these systems are currently the only operational quantum computers deployed in Kazakhstan. The equipment will support classroom teaching, laboratory practice, scientific research, and the development of machine learning and quantum-related algorithms.

At the opening ceremony, Zhanseit Tuimebayev, Chairman of the Board and Rector of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, emphasized the strategic importance of the initiative. He noted that artificial intelligence, big data, and quantum computing are increasingly shaping the future of science, technology, and the global economy, and that the integration of quantum technologies with AI could help address complex problems in areas such as cryptography, healthcare, and advanced system modeling. He also expressed confidence that the laboratory would contribute to the university’s development as a world-class research institution and further strengthen Kazakhstan’s scientific and technological capabilities.
Timur Imankulov, Dean of the Faculty of Information Technology and Artificial Intelligence, also highlighted the practical value of the new laboratory. According to local reports, the platform will provide students and researchers with access to advanced quantum systems and create more opportunities to participate in real research and industry-oriented projects. The university also introduced future plans for the laboratory, including further work in machine learning and next-generation algorithm development.
For SpinQ, this milestone reflects the company’s continued commitment to making quantum technologies more accessible through real hardware deployments, especially in education and research. We believe that hands-on access to quantum systems plays an important role in helping universities build talent pipelines, strengthen research capabilities, and explore meaningful interdisciplinary applications.
The launch of the Quantum AI laboratory also highlights SpinQ’s growing international footprint. Today, SpinQ’s products and technical services reach users across five continents, supporting universities, research institutions, and industry partners with practical quantum computing platforms designed for education, experimentation, and applied innovation.

The opening of the laboratory received extensive attention from local media, including coverage from Kazinform, Kapital.kz, gov.kz, inbusiness.kz, Elorda Info, Aqsham News, and other regional outlets. This broad coverage underscores the significance of the project not only for the university, but also for the broader development of the local quantum ecosystem.

SpinQ looks forward to continuing to support global partners in expanding access to quantum computing and in building stronger bridges between education, research, and real-world application.
